Helpful Hints
Think Spring! Beautiful, bright days, flowers and bushes blooming, and of course rain! Here some ideas for your "Spring Cleaning." Just like the trees, your house needs to bloom too!
Indoor:
- Clean the windows and screens and then open them to let the fresh air in!
- Pull the furniture away from the walls and vacuum and mop underneath.
- Clean your registers and make sure they are not blocked so that air circulation is not impeded.
- Use a dry sponge to wipe down furniture and rid them of dust!
- Take down your curtains and drapes and air-fluff them in the dryer with a damp cloth for 15 minites.
Outdoor:
- Check your roof after the winter ice & snow. Look for loose or missing shingles and replace. Check the flashing too! Water can seep in causing interior leaking.
- Heavy spring rains can cause leaks into the house if the gutters are not free of leaf and twig debris! Check out the gutter spout to make sure it provides a clear flow away from the house. This will help you avoid paint problems, wood rot, and even foundation cracks.
- Wood siding? Scrape, fill, and re-paint.
- Rent a power washer and clean the winter dirt off your vinyl siding.
- Now is the time to re-seal treated lumber decks.
